17 dead in California mudslides, several missing

At least 17 dead in California mudslides and also several others are missing. Anthony Buzzerio, a Los Angeles County fire battalion chief said, “We’ve gotten multiple reports of rescuers falling through manholes that were covered with mud, swimming pools that were covered up with mud.”



Buzzerio, who led a team of six dogs and 14 firefighters, said, “The mud is acting like a candy shell on ice cream. It’s crusty on top but soft underneath, so we’re having to be very careful.”


As per the Santa Barbara County officials, it destroyed 100 houses and also damaged 300 others. The authorities added that nearly 8 commercial properties were destroyed and 20 damaged.
