9 Jawans martyred in Maoist attack

The forest regions on the border of Telangana and Chattisgarh have been bloodied again. 12 Maoists had been killed in a recent encounter. The Maoists took revenge by attacking CRPF jawans travelling in a van. They blasted a landmine on the road between Gollapalli and Kishtaram villages. 9 Jawans were killed in this landmine explosion, while 6 others were injured.

The injured jawans were sent to a hospital in Raipur and the bodies of the martyred jawans were carried in a helicopter to a hospital in the Bhadrachalam area. The entire area is now covered with the mutilated remains of the jawans. It is understood that the Maoists resorted to lightning strike on the jawans on receiving information that Cobra forces were arriving to conduct a search operation. It is estimated that about a 100 Maoists participated in these attacks.
