Kulbhushan Jadhav heaves a sigh of relief: Pakistan government allows to meet his wife
The Pakistan government has done something worth applaud by allowing the ex-Indian Navy employee Kulbhushan Jadhav to meet his wife on humanitarian grounds. He was arrested on March 3, 2016, in Balochistan, Pakistan, over charges of terrorism and spying for India’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
On 10 April 2017, Kulbhushan was sentenced to death by a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) in Pakistan. On May 10, 2017, the International Court of Justice stayed the hanging of Kulbhushan Jadhav after India approached it against the death sentence.
A foreign ministry statement said the Pakistan has agreed to arrange a meeting of Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav with his wife, in Pakistan “purely on humanitarian grounds.”
“A Note Verbale to this effect has been sent to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad,” added the statement.
The statement said: “Commander Kulbushan Jadhav alias, Hussain Mubarak Patel, a serving Commander of the Indian Navy, working with Indian Intelligence Agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) and was apprehended by Pakistan law enforcement agencies on March 3, 2016, after he illegally crossed over into Pakistan. He confessed before a Magistrate and the Court that he was tasked by RAW to plan, coordinate and organize espionage, terrorist and sabotage activities aimed at destabilizing and waging war against Pakistan.”
