Liquor baron Vijay Mallya has been absconding from the country after failed to clear the debts that he owes to several banks in the country. He has been staying in UK from March 2016 after which his passport has been suspended by the External Affairs Ministry. UK government declined his deportation after the Indian government requested. The latest update is that an Indian delegation that has been headed by Ministry of External Affairs met the delegates in UK which comprised of Crown Prosecution Service along with the Legal Department of the country.
The Indian delegation sought Mallya’s extradition under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) between the two countries. As per the latest update, Mallya is just one step away from being caught. Several cases have been registered across the courts in the country in the money laundering case. Sources revealed that Vijay Mallya will be brought back to the country soon.
