According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), over 6000 hate crimes have been reported in the United States in 2016. The statistics of FBI shows a 5 per cent jump in such crimes from 2015.
The FBI said that 3.1 per cent of hate crimes resulted from anti-Asian bias and 1.3 per cent were classified as anti-Arab bias.
Also, it says that 12 anti-Hindu hate crimes, seven anti-Sikh hate crimes and one against the Buddhist community were registered.
US attorney general Jeff Sessions said, “No person should have to fear being violently attacked becasue of who they are, what they believe, of how they worship.”
