Mani Ratnam is back to test his luck with Cheliya which features Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. Produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, Cheliya has been made on a massive budget. Here is the complete review of Cheliya:
Varun (Karthi) is a fighter pilot who works for Indian Army. He meets with an accident after which he happens to meet Leela Abraham (Aditi Rao Hydari) and falls for her. As time passes, Varun manages to impress her after which the real problems start. He gets captured by the Pak army and gets imprisoned. The rest of Cheliya is all about how Varun manages to return back to the country and win his love. Watch Cheliya to know about the rest.
Cheliya is all about an emotional journey between Varun and Leela. Unfortunately the love story of Varun and Leela has not been narrated well. The first half of Cheliya has been passable but the second half of the film fails in all the available ways and ends up as a massive disappointment.
Karthi has been decent in the assigned role however he needs to work on his expressions. He has been loud and energetic throughout. Aditi Rao Hydari is the major highlight of Cheliya and she steals the show with her flawless performance. The story of Cheliya looks outdated and it is the screenplay which leaves the film completely hammered. The cinematography captures some stunning locales of Kashmir and is the major highlight of the film.
Cheliya is a boring journey which misses the needed emotions and romance. A boring feast which can be given a skip.
