Former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee dies at 89

Former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee passed away on Monday morning in Kolkata after he was admitted to hospital with a kidney ailment. He was 89 years old.

 

 

His condition turned critical on Sunday morning after he was put on ventilator support after he suffered a heart attack. He was admitted to Belle Avue hospital on August 8.

 

As per the doctors he had been in and out of hospital for the last two months as he was undergoing dialysis.
