A seven year old criminal case has come back to haunt Denduluru TDP MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar. A senior TDP leader, he was made TDP Party Whip by Chandrababu Naidu to stop him from leaving the party for YCP. Already facing criticism for his behaviour and his attack on Revenue officer Vanajakshi, Chintamaneni may now have to do time in prison, a fact that is being celebrated by his critics.
In 2011, during the Rachabanda programme in Denduluru, then Congress Minister Vatti Vasant Kumar and local TDP leader Chintamaneni Prabhakar got into a fight that escalated into a court case. Vasant Kumar filed a case in Denduluru police station that Chintamaneni Prabhakar had assaulted him. The Bhimadolu court found the MLA guilty in this case and sentenced him to 2.7 years in prison, with a fine of Rs 1000. However, his bail was granted almost immediately. Chintamaneni Prabhakar has declared that the case was filed for political reasons and he trusts the justice system to free him from the case.
