Telangana Hikes Quota For Muslims And STs

On Wednesday, the Telangana state cabinet approved the increase in quota for Muslims and STs but continues to keep up the suspense over the quantum of the hike.

 

 

The government decided to convene a special session of the State Legislature to pass the quota bills on April 16.

 

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, while addressing a press conference, said that the quantum of the hike will be decided in the next cabinet meeting on April 15. He added that in its 2014 election manifesto, the TRS had promised to increase the quota to 12 per cent for Muslims and STs and it was the responsibility of the TRS government to implement the same now.
