Supreme Court indefinitely extends deadline for Aadhaar Linking

In a major decision, the Supreme Court indefinitely extended the deadline to mandatorily link bank accounts and mobile phones with Aadhaar number. Previously, the deadline was set for March 31st.



The Supreme Court said that the 5 member bench consisting of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, and justices A K Sikri, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and Ashok Bhushan would first consider the petitions on the constitutionality of ssup Aadhaar before passing judgment on making it mandatory. The Aadhaar is now only compulsory for giving subsidy.
