T-Congress MLAs mass resignation – Bypolls in Telangana?

Telangana politics have taken a sudden dramatic turn. The violent incident on Monday has resulted in the expulsion of two Congress members and the expulsion of 11 others for the rest of the ongoing budget session on Tuesday. With this the T-Congress party is said to be considering a mass resignation. Consultations are going on with political experts to this effect.

CLP leader Jana Reddy condemned the suspension of the Congress MLAs. He accused the TRS of keeping out the main opposition party as the government was afraid of the loopholes in the budget. He further said that the people of Telangana were being misled.

Meanwhile, speculations have started about the result of a bypoll in Telangana at this juncture. Both the ruling and opposition parties are considering the pros and cons of by-polls, the pulse of the people and the results of the surveys conducted by KCR. With Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy (Nalgonda) and Sampath Kumar (Alampur) being expelled, by-polls for these constituencies are almost certain, subject to the election commission’s decision. It looks like CM KCR will have to call for mid-term elections.
