Followed by the LG Polymers chemical gas leak mayhem which grabbed nations attention, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister who reached to KGH Hospital in Visakhapatnam announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore each to the families of those who had succumbed. Announcing that a panel headed by state Chief Secretary will investigate the issue and ensure justice will be met.
Addressing newspersons at Visakhapatnam after he visited the hospitalised victims, the chief minister also announced Rs 25,000 financial aid to those who had received primary care treatment and granted Rs Rs 1 lakh to victims who got hospitalised and get treatment for two or more days. “Rs 10-lakh compensation will be given to patients who will be on ventilator treatment and all 15,000 people residing in the villages around the plant will be given Rs 10,000 each,” added the CM.
Claiming that LG has had a good reputation expected to maintain high standards, Jagan assured that the plant would be shifted from the present location if necessary. According to the confirmed reports, 10 people have lost their lives and about 1,000 people have been hospitalised after styrene gas leaked from the LG Polymers plant located at R R Venkatapuram, Visakhapatnam. The CM also appreciated the timely efforts of the police and the district administration.
