The souring onion prices with every passing day has been taking a toll at middle-class Indians. While respective governments are taking necessary measures to curb the hiking prices, they staple vegetable, however, continued to tear up the customers. Amidst this, a small mobile shop in Tamil Nadu decided to cash the trending news across the country. Saravana Kumar, the owner of STR Mobiles in Thanjavur district announced an interesting offer which is now trending on social media.
He announced that whoever purchases a mobile phone or any other gadget from the shop will get one kilogram of onions free. With onion prices reaching almost Rs. 165 per kg, this offer has received an overwhelming response from the locals. “Footfall at the shop increased exponentially ever since the offer was announced. I think people liked the offer,” said Saravana who was busy with the customers. He also confronted that he has been selling 6-8 mobiles a day from the last three days. The pictures of the holdings at the stop and the owner gifting the customers with onion bags started trending on social media which in turn helped Saravana in marketing.
