While the people of Telangana are taking a deep breath and calming down to the end of the paddy war with the center, the Chief Minister of Telangana, KCR has brought to the fore another controversial matter- repealing the 111 G.O. It was announced on Tuesday that the Cabinet had decided to abolish the GO. Opposition parties stated that there is a huge controversy cooking behind the aspects of removing the GO. Former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy said that the lands under 111 were mostly bought by the CM’s relatives and those belonging to the joint Karimnagar district and hence the government has taken this decision to make the people in their proximity benefit from it.
Vishweshwar Reddy had earlier said that if the GO is repealed, he will crack a1000 coconuts in the name of KCR. As promised, he smashed over 100 coconuts at the Kanakamamidi Venkateswaraswamy Temple in Hyderabad, saying that the remaining 900 are said to be knocked out as soon as the whole process is completed.
Konda said that KCR had announced that he would cancel GO 111 in 2013, the very first time he joined TRS, saying that the promise has not been fulfilled. He said this was also a reason for him to leave the party. He stated that if the G.O is completely repealed, and when it comes into force, he will smash the remaining 900 coconuts at the temple. However, Konda demanded compensation for farmers who sold their land at a low price.
On the other hand, Vishweshwar Reddy wants justice for those who have lost their homes. Vishweshwar Reddy says that the areas where land has been purchased under 111 GO after 2014 should be declared as green zones and those who have land before should not be brought under the green zone. He also demanded that the area must be converted into a ‘sustainable development zone’.
