In an effort to tackle the serious concern of narcotics circulation in two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the police have been conducting vigorous raids and are seizing drugs being transpired from Maharastra.
In the latest incident, the Rachakonda police commissionerate in Telangana on Monday seized 1,240 kg of marijuana. The substances are being transported from Sileru in Andhra Pradesh to Mumbai via Hyderabad. The police arrested three drug peddlers transporting the drug. The arrested persons have been identified as T. Santhosh (29), S. Vasudeva Reddy (25) and Ponnam Rajeshwar (24), all residents of Hyderabad.
As per the police, around 1,240 kgs of marijuana, three four-wheelers, two mobile phones, Rs 5,000 cash, and other materials worth Rs 2 crores were seized by the Special Operation Team(SOT). The latest recovery came four days after the Prohibition and Excise Department seized 462 kg ganja estimated to be worth Rs 1 crore in the Medchal district near Hyderabad.
