Despite registering less positive cases, Telangana which has been one of the states long battling with the deadly viral infection, it is ranked among the top three states with high positivity rate. According to the recent studies frontline warriors like medical staff, policemen and sanitary workers are said to be the most affected.
Into details, the official data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare revealed on Thursday, Telangana’s healthcare workers have the highest Covid-19 positivity rate of 18 per cent in the country. Tensions ran high in the state medical fraternity as the state surpassed Maharastra, the state with the highest number of cases-where the positivity rate is 16 per cent.
This study came as the wake-up call to Telangana authorities while the doctors, paramedics, nurses and other supporting medical staff continued to raise concerns over the protective gear, doffing area and working hours.
On this note, the Union Health Ministry instructed the state officials to submit a report over the reason behind the high positive rate among medical professionals. It can be noted that a senior doctor came out disclosing the facilities at the COVID hospitals in the state.
“The PPE kits are almost see-through. It is lower than 70 gsm even though the claim is that it is 90 gsm,” he added. He also confronted that the cross-infections are the main reason behind the high positivity rate.
