#JusticeForHarsha, truths behind the suicide
Bengaluru: The protests over the suicide of a harassed student Sri Harsha continues for the third day on the campus of Amrita School of Engineering. Students from the colleges took to rallies to protest against the authorities of the privately-run college who allegedly harassed the hostel student which lead to his suicide. Sri Harsha, a final year engineering student jumped off the seventh floor of Amrita college of engineering in Bengaluru after the alleged suspension threats from the management. While the college tried to bury the suicide by moving his body and wiping away the blood before the police reached, students at the campus raised agitations bringing out the truths behind. The incident came to limelight through social media, as the fellow students raised their voice against the college authorities demanding justice.
Into the story, angered over the lack of decent food and sufficient water at the hostel, a few of the hostel students went against the authorities breaking the windows of college-owned buses and CCTV cameras at the college. Upon which the college’s disciplinary action committee rusticated 15 students and another 45 were suspended. Reportedly Harsha’s name came from nowhere and was forced to confess over his involvement in an incident. This has apparently brought pressure on Harsha who took the decision to end his life. Harsha’s father G. Vijaya Bhaskar, a resident of Visakapatnam has filed a case against the college’s Associate Dean S.G. Rakesh and Director Dhanraj Swami who were accused as the two key officials responsible for the suicide. Ishan Pant, Deputy Commissioner of Police stated they have initiated the inquiry investigating team is questioning the co-accused and others in the college.
While there are different versions of the reasons behind his death, a close friend of Harsha revealed the truths behind his death in a letter which is on viral mode on social media.
