Nothing affected the migrant lives more than the lockdown. In different incidents across the country, hundreds of migrants are seen sacrificing lives be it suicides or accidents. In a recent incident, at least 24 migrant workers were killed after a truck rammed into a DCM lorry they were travelling in, on Saturday morning.
The accident that happened in Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh at around 3:30 AM also injured 36 labourers who are on their way back to homes amid the lockdown. The injured were rushed to the PGI Saifai for treatment, while others have been admitted to a hospital in Auraiya.
“The DCM truck was coming from Delhi and heading towards Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh. The trailer truck hit the DCM vehicle. Both the vehicles turned upside down after losing control,” stated Circle Officer, Auraiya, Surendranath Yadav.
UP Additional Chief Secretary for Home, Awanish Awasthi, said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the unfortunate accident in Auraiya. Followed by which, a compensation of Rs 2 lakhs was announced for family of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured in the Auraiya accident.
