Taking its wildest form so far, India has been reporting over 60,000 cases daily since the last 10 days, barring August 11. While the health experts continued to raise concerns over the increasing positivity rate, India on Monday registered 57,982 new coronavirus cases.
Setting off danger alarms, the country which now stands as this worst-hit country in the world registered 39 fatalities every hour in the past 24 hours.
According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, the total caseload is now at 26,47,663 while the death toll rose to 50,921 with 941 new fatalities in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-affected state at over 5,84,754 cases so far with 11,111 new cases on Monday.
While the health officials claim to record a steady increase in recovery rate, 6,76,900 active cases, 19,19,843 discharged/migrated till date. The total number of Covid-19 samples tested up to 30th July crossed three crore-mark including 7,31,697 samples tested yesterday, confirmed Indian Council of Medical Research.
The Covid-19 tally in Andhra Pradesh touched 2.89 lakh on Sunday as 8,012 fresh cases were added while the total number of recoveries crossed the two lakh mark. Meanwhile, Telangana reported 1,102 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus infection in the span of 24 hours, on Sunday, taking the total tally over 90,000 (91,361) in the state.
