While the country embarks on Unlock 5.0, the fifth phase of reopening the economy, India on Friday reported 63,371 COVID-19 cases while the total number of infections in the country rose to 73,70,469.
According to the latest reports from the union health ministry, the Indian states and union territories has 8,04,528 active cases, while as many as 64,53,780 people have recovered.
The number of fatalities soared to 1,12,161 with 895 deaths in the last 24 hours ending 8 am on Friday. A slower pace of daily infections and an improved recovery rate has pushed active cases in India lower, close to 8 lakh from over 10 lakh in mid-September.

Meanwhile, Telangana has reported 1,554 fresh coronavirus positive cases as per the health update released on Friday, totalling the tally to 2,19,224. While the death toll went up to 1,256 with seven persons dying of the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.
4,038 fresh coronavirus cases were reported in Andhra Pradesh by Thursday evening as the aggregate went up to 7,71,503. 38 fresh Covid-19 deaths were reported as the toll rose to 6,357. With the steady increase in recoveries, active cases stand at a little over 40,047 while 7,22,204 people beat corona so far.
