While the wait for vaccine continues, India on Tuesday recorded 52,050 new coronavirus cases. For the sixth consecutive day, Indian states registered over 50,000 cases taking the total caseload to 18,55,745 so far.
According to the recent health bulletin released by the Union Health Ministry, 803 new fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours while the total death toll spiked to 38,938.
India now has 5.86 lakh active coronavirus cases with 12.30 lakh people cured/discharged/migrated so far. As per the health officials, the recovery rate of India stands at 66%.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 2,08,64,750 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till August 3 while 6,61,892 were tested in the last 24 hours.
Across the world, coronavirus cases have gone past 1.8 crore and over 6.91 lakh people have died so far.
On the other hand, the number of leaders turning positive to the deadly viral infection kept increasing. Home Minister Amit Shat tested positive, Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa announced they were under treatment for corona, the state’s ex-CM also tested positive on Tuesday.
