With Dr Reddy’s Laboratories’ approval from the Drug Control General of India (DCGI) to conduct phase 2 and 3 human clinical trials of the vaccine, Russian COVID vaccines Sputnik V vaccine for COVID-19 has reportedly arrived in India on Friday.
In a video that has been making rounds on social media, containers with logos of Dr Reddy’s and Sputnik V being unloaded from a small truck was seen. Though the authenticity of the video is yet to be verified by the authorities, sources at Dr Reddy’s confirmed the reports and revealed that the clinical trials will commence soon.

This development came close on the heels of Russia’s National Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology and the Russian Direct Investment Fund announced that the Sputnik V vaccine demonstrated high efficacy with 92 per cent.
It is worth recalling that the Sputnik V vaccine developed by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology was registered by the Ministry of Health of Russia and became the world’s first registered vaccine against Covid-19 registered for the public use.
