Followed by a hard-hitting jolt from the High Court over the medium of instruction in the government schools, Jagan and his team in the strategical move has decided to hold a referendum of the parents in the view to known which medium they want their children to take up for the academic year 2020-21.
In t Eline of which the school education commissioner has been asked to report the views of the parents/guardians of the students from class one to five in government schools for the 2019–20 school year. And now, according to feedback collected by education department through village and ward volunteers, it was stated that 96.17 per cent of parents in the state of Andhra Pradesh favoured English as the medium of education in the government schools of the state.
Surprisingly, it was only 3.05 per cent of parents that preferred Telugu medium of instruction in the government-run schools. While there are 17,87,035 students in the state enrolled government schools, 17,85,669 parents have voted in favour of the government to shift the medium of instruction to English. Reportedly, Jagan-led YSRCP government is likely to submit the same report to AP High Court and inform the details of their survey in favour of their most controversial decision taken in recent times.
