Amidst reports confirming that the viral infection has been spreading much faster in India than any other country, the country on Friday reported over one lakh for almost 7th day in a row except for Wednesday.
The total case tally stands at 52,14,678 including 10,17,754 active cases, 41,12,552 cured/discharged/migrated.
According to the latest reports from the union health ministry, Indian states and union territories logged 96,424 new cases from Thursday morning. On the other hand, the total death toll of the country reached 84,372 with 1,174 new fatalities in the last 24 hours.
Close to half of 48.45% of the active cases of Covid-19 are concentrated in three states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh while Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have been registering a steady increase in cases.
Meanwhile, the active cases see an increase of 7,778 in the last 24 hours while the recovery rate rises to 78.86% from yesterday’s 78.64%. Deaths see an increase of over 1,000 for 17th straight day, it’s up 1,174 on Friday.
Telangana reported 2,043 new cases taking the state’s total caseload to over 1.67 lakh. According to health bulletin released on Friday, 11 new fatalities in the last 24 hours while the death toll is at 1,016.
AP, on the other hand, logged 8,702 fresh cases ending 9 am on Thursday as the positive tally touched 6,01,462. 72 more patients had succumbed to the infection, taking the gross toll to 5,177.
