In the wake of relaxed lockdown norms, India continued to record new single-day spikes with each passing day. With 9,887 fresh cases, the Covid-19 tally in India on Saturday rose to 2,36,657 according to latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In an alarming report, India recorded 273 new deaths in a single-day with as many as 6,642 fatalities so far.
While India has been breaking its own highest positive cases in a day record, Modi-led central government has dropped a statement which came as a shock to national health experts. The health authorities issued advisories stating that the situations are completely under control comparatively better than global scenario. Claiming that the fatality rate in India is now at 2.82 per cent while the global rate is 6.13 per cent, health ministry the transmission rate, or the number of people getting infected by an already infected person, has been going down steadily.
On the global front, over 6,700,000 people have been infected. While the death toll stood at 394,875, as many as 2,746,192 people have recovered so far.
