Writers making allegations against filmmakers over plagiarism is nothing new. However, things started to take a swift turn with the advent of social media while the allegation started even before the release. One such incident is now shattering the Telugu film industry.
Hours after Chiranjeevi’s most awaited film ‘Acharya’ released the first look, writer Rajesh Mandoori reportedly accused the makers of the film for making the film on his script. According to the claims made by the writer, he had narrated a story to Mythri Movie Makers a few years ago.
Reacting to the claims made by the writer, director Koratala Siva lashed out stating that it was completely a different subject which was already registered. Speaking at an interview with a renowned news channel, the ‘Srimanthudu’ director also stated that he would approach the court if the writer continues to bother the project which completed almost 40 per cent of the shoot.
The makers of ‘Acharya’ as well released an official statement refuting back the claims made by the writer. “It is unacceptable to defame a reputed filmmaker like Koratala Siva. In fact, the claims being made are unfounded and seem to be based on the speculative and rumoured stories in the print and electronic media. Therefore, any claims with respect to the story are baseless, false and are solely based on assumptions,” read the statement.
The upcoming film being produced by Konidela Production Company along with Matinee Entertainment, features Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles.
