An anonymous letter posted to the Nijagunananda Swamy Ashram triggered tensions in Belagavi on Sunday. The letter is no normal with death threats addressing 15 leaders labelling them as traitors including former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and actor-turned-politician Prakash Raj.
Accusing the Lingayat religious leader Nijagunananda Swamy and 15 of his supporters of betraying their own religion, the unsigned handwritten letter stated that they would kill them on January 29th. ‘Be prepared for the final journey on January 29, 2020. We will definitely eliminate all of you,” read the letter.
The others mentioned in the letter are former Bajrang Dal leader Mahindra Kumar, religious leader Nidumamidi Swami, Jayaprakasha Swami, actor Chetan Kumar, former minister and activist BT Lalitha Nayak, academic Mahesh Chandra Guru, writer KS Bhagwan, poet Chandrashekhar Patil, and journalists Dinesh Amin Mattu and Agni Sridhar. Reacting to the threat letter, Prakash Raj took to his social media handles to hit back the threats. He attached a photograph of the letter with the hashtag “Hum Dekhenge”, and said it was sent by a coward group. While the police probed the investigating, Kumaraswamy lashed out on the people behind this and demanded the government to take serious actions against the responsible.
