Bollywood star actress of the famous feature film, ‘Rangeela’, Urmila Matondkar, resigned from the Congress Party.
Urmila joined the Congress Party, just before the recent Lok Sabha elections. One of the news agencies quoted her saying that her political and social sensibilities refuse to allow vested interests in the party to be used as a mean to fight petty in-house politics instead of working on a bigger goal in Mumbai Congress.
In the recent elections in Mumbai North constituency, Urmila had contested on behalf of Congress and lost the election to her BJP counterpart, Gopal Shetty with a difference of almost four lakh votes. Controversially, while it was speculated that Urmila shall no longer continue in politics, it may be noted that Urmila dismissed the same saying she shall never leave politics. However, today’s decision is yet to prove her next course of action… another party or back to movies??!!
