In yet another huge record, the South Korean sensation ‘Squid Game’ has posted a total of 1.65 billion hours of streaming in the first four weeks of release, becoming the most-watched Netflix content of all time. In other words, humans have spent 182,000 years watching the series in just under a month.
Confirming the same, the leading OTT platform Netflix on Tuesday rolled out a new website that measures its most-viewed films and series by the number of hours users spend watching them. The new website revealed that people are watching Squid Game and the new action-adventure film Red Notice maybe even more than you would have guessed.
Netflix also released the global top 10 lists of films and TV shows based on hours viewed in their respective first 28 days on its platform while ‘Squid Game’ topped the non-English popular TV show list The show’s popularity has led to a surge in stock purchases for Korean media companies, and it’s driven up viewership for other East Asian shows like ‘Sweet Home’ and ‘Alice in Borderland.’
