While various Lord Krishna’s temples across Vrindavan and Mathura are ramping up to celebrate the festival of Janmashtami, 22 personnel including the priests turning positive fro coronavirus came as a jolt to the Krishna devotees. Followed by which, the authorities have sealed ISKCON and few other prominent temples across Mathura.
The health department officials had collected the samples of 165 people staying in the residential complex of the temple after two residents were found positive. Out of 165, 22 people have now found to be infected with the dreaded virus. The 22 found positive include three priests, four Brahmachari, two Sankirtan members and five housekeeping staff.
In the wake of which, the officials have restricted the movement of devotees and the temple has been sealed. Vrindavan’s Chandrovodaya Temple has reportedly planned a virtual tour of the city as visit to the temples have been banned. All the people infected and their primary contacts were isolated and are reportedly undergoing treatment.
This year, Janmashtami which is celebrated on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravana will begin August 11.
