Former IT Minister and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh was arrested in Vijayawada today. The MLC was reportedly on his way to participate in the ‘National Highway Roko’ program at Chinakakani in support for the Amaravati farmers who have been protesting against the ‘three capital’ proposal. MLA Ramanaidu, Former Minister Kollu Ravindra included the list of TDP leaders who were arrested along with Lokesh. Though the officials refused to reveal where the leaders were being shifted, sources revealed that they were taken to Thotlavalluru police station.
Tension reportedly prevailed at the police station as Lokesh continued his protest alongside the leaders arrested. Lokesh participated in the one-day hunger strike held by Gadde Rammohan and was arrested before he was heading towards the highway to participate in the bandh. It is known news that the police held many of the TDP leaders under house arrest from the early hours of Tuesday in the wake of ‘National Highway Roko’ program announced.
