In what can be called as the largest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the history of the state, Telangana has got a mega tech boom from Cloud computing firm Amazon Web Services. The tech giant will be investing $2.77 billion ( ₹20,761 crore).
Increasing the potential of Hyderabad as one of the preferred destinations for other companies that are looking to set up data centres in future, the tech giant on Friday announced that it would set up an AWS Region with three Availability Zones in the city.
Confirming the development, the IT and Industries Departments released an official note which stated that the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region is expected to start operations by mid-2022.
This new centre will enable more developers, startups, and enterprises as well as government, education, and non-profit organizations to run their applications and serve end-users from data centres located in India.
The deal was reportedly cracked during Minister for IT and Industries KT Rama Rao’s Davos visit earlier in the year.
