While the parts of riot-hit Delhi are healing from the wounds left the clashes between anti and pro-CAA protestors, the city gets the new Police Commissioner. As per the orders issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, senior Indian Police Service officer Sachidanand Shrivastava on Friday is given with the additional charges as the Commissioner of Police succeeding Amulya Patnaik.
Shrivastava will take charge on March 1, 2020, with Patnaik tiring from his duties from February 29th. In the line of the orders issued, ‘Additional charge as Commissioner of Delhi Police with effect from March 1, 2020’ and will be in effect until further orders. In the wake of the riots across northeast Delhi that has claimed 38 lives so far, the appointment of Shrivastava took prominence while the main challenge ahead of bringing law and order into control lies ahead.
Shrivastava, who served as Special Director General (Training) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will demit from services next year.
