Nampally court has remanded Saduddin, the main accused in the amnesia pub case to three days’ custody. Though the Police asked for seven days’ custody, the court granted only three days. As Saduddin was a major, he was remanded at the Chanchal Gowda jail. He will be taken into police custody on Thursday.
The police filed a petition in the Juvenile Justice Court for their custody as the remaining five of the accused were minors. An inquiry into this is yet to take place. Of all the six, the victim was r*ped by a total of five people while the remaining one person made physical advances against her. Thus the police registered a case under various sections.
Police have already gathered basic information on the case. The statement was taken twice from the girl. However, the police asked the custody to get more details from Saduddin. The questions such as ‘How did the girl get into the vehicle? and is it done under the influence of any substance? have to be answered. They are currently looking to learn the details thoroughly from many angles and perspectives including Saduddin’s.
Saduddin will be produced in court by the police after the end of the accused’s custody. Then move to remand. Police are now quite aggressively investigating the case in the wake of the National Commission for Women’s involvement. Opposition groups are raising a number of questions as the police are pointing at everyone in the group as the accused, except the MLA’s son.
