Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to Visakhapatnam on the 11th of this month. The schedule for this has also been released. Modi will lay the foundation stone for 10 projects including the railway zone. While YCP is making huge arrangements for government programs, BJP is making plans for welcome and road shows. BJP state president Somu Veerraju said that two routes have been examined for the roadshow and that the PM will come to the city on the 11th at 6.25 pm. He said that a huge public meeting will be held on the 12th and BJP will participate in it.
The state BJP is keen to make Modi’s visit to Visakha memorable. The Public Transport Department will allocate 3 thousand buses for the Prime Minister’s House. Around 5,000 people will be deployed with the state police. IPS officers are already monitoring the arrangements in the assembly premises. Key areas were taken under their control. The SPG team will also arrive in Visakhapatnam in a few hours.
However, there are possibilities of severe tensions during Modi’s visit. The Visakha Steel Plant Poratha Samiti has formed an activity to stir up the agitations in Visakha for three days from the 9th of this month. They called for protests to let PM Modi know that the privatization of the steel plant would put their families on the road.
On the day Modi arrived in Visakhapatnam, around 10,000 employees decided to protest by boycotting their duties en masse. On the 9th, they are planning to take out a bike rally with a thousand people from Gurrampalem to the Gandhi statue at the GVMC office in Dwarkanagar. It is reported that posters saying ‘Modi Ji Stop Vizag Steel Plant Sale’ have already been put up in many places in the city. The Steel Plant Porota Samiti agitation which started last year has completed 635 days.
