Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seizing heroin worth an estimated Rs 9,000 crore from Mundra Port in Gujarat’s Kutch has set storm in Andhra political circles. While the main opposition demanded the central government for a probe into the drug seize, ruling YSRCP leaders jumped into action hitting back TDP’s allegations over the links between officials in Andhra Pradesh and the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada on Monday, TDP leader Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar demands a fair investigation to expose the ‘Taliban to Tadepalli’ links. “How is it possible for the international drug and uranium mafia to operate in Andhra Pradesh without the support of the state government and top police officers,” he asked.
Responding on the issue, Andhra Pradesh State Home Minister Mekathoti Sucharita said that it is cruel to accuse the CM based on the address mentioned on the drug import. “Will Prime Minister Modi be linked to drugs found in Gujarat?” she questioned. The minister then urged the central government to take steps to curb drugs in the country.
