Furious with the ignorance of the Jagan-led Andhra Pradesh government, the high court on Tuesday warned of initiating contempt proceedings against it if it fails to clear NREGA arrears by September 15. Expressing discontent over not executing the court’s orders issued two weeks back, the high court gave a week time for the YSRCP government.
To recollect, claiming that the bills were not paid after working under Upadi Haami Scheme a total of 494 people approached the high court. While the court has directed the government to clear the bills immediately, the AP government paid only 25 bills stating that the center failed to release the funds.

However, the affidavit submitted by the Center stated that they had cleared all the bills issued by the State Government and there were no pending bills with them. Furious with the state government’s negligence, the court stated that this was the last chance and that the government would face contempt action if their orders were not complied with.
