With the AP State Elections Commission successfully wrapping up three out of the four phases of most awaited Panchayat elections, focus now landed on municipal, MPTC and ZPTC polls. Amid the tug of war between the state government and the state election body, the SEC on Friday got a jolt from the High Court.
Hearing the petitions filed objecting the jurisdiction of the State election Officer over ZPTC elections, the High Court has issued interim orders directing the SEC not to hold an inquiry if Form-10 in unanimous places. If Form-10 isn’t issued, SEC was instructed to refrain from disclosing the results. Interim orders will be in effect until the 23rd of this month.
The High Court’s recent orders came close on the heels of SEC’s comments that it would review the forced unanimous declarations. It can be noted that SEC assured that it would allow re-nomination in case of forced unanimous declaration.
