While the polling is underway in 12 Municipal Corporations, including Greater Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, and 75 Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats, the State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar on Wednesday issued crucial orders.
Issuing orders that the voters who come to exercise their right to vote can carry their cell phones into polling booths, the SEC instructed the officials at the polling booths not to object to the former. However, SEC Nimmagadda reportedly directed the security personnel to instruct the voters not to use the mobiles in voting room.
The voters who will flunk this rule will get their mobile phones seized. It can be noted that police have been blocking voters from carrying cell phones to polling stations since morning. The outraged voters at certain polling booths resorted to heated conversations with police.
