In a most anticipated move, BJP Andhra Pradesh unit on Monday got a new president. While the party is on the verge of paving new path ever since its alliance with young party JanaSena, BJP leadership gave two shockers to the state cadre on the same day.
Senior leader and MLC Somu Veerraju has been appointed as the state new president replaced incumbent president Kanna Lakshminarayana. Party national president JP Nadda on Monday made the announcement hinting upon the spirited fight against the Jagan-led state government.
The move came days after the leadership made significant changes in the Telangana BJP unit while Bandi Sanjay was appointed as the president.
It can be noted that Veeraju was in the president race previously before two years as well, while new entrant into the party Kanna whisked away the opportunity then. Irrespective of the fact that BJP did not win a single seat in 2019 elections, the party leaders won the hearts of high command.
However, there is another angle running behind. This new recruitment might come as good news to the ruling cadre as Veerraju is said to have a soft corner for Jagan.
It is to the known knowledge that the MLC is known as a bitter critic of the then chief minister and TDP president Chandrababu. Political circles are now all ears for the senior leader’s comments on YSRCP leadership.
