While Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is scheduled to visit Srisailam to conduct an aerial survey of the project, CMO on Friday announced that the tour was cancelled.
Apart from the aerial survey, the CM is also scheduled to conduct a review of the progress of Pothireddypadu Head Regulator extension works, proposed Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme and other irrigation works which was called off.
Stating that he is praying for the safety of those who were stuck at the plant, Jagan instructed his officials to call off the tour on Friday. The Chief Minister was learnt to direct the officials concerned to extend all possible help and cooperation in rescue and relief operations at the Left Bank Power House on learning about the incident.
It is reported that a short circuit led to the fire incident followed by an explosion in unit 4 of the powerhouse while nine maintenance staff were still trapped in the tunnel. Thick smoke engulfed the area, making it difficult for the rescue teams to carry the operation to douse the fire and rescue the trapped employees
Though the officials confronted the unfortunate fire accident as the reason behind CM cancelling the schedule, an interesting theory surfaced which has been making rounds on social media.
According to the rumour, cumulonimbus clouds spread across the Srisailam forest area are the reason behind the officials calling off the tour. The rumour also said that Jagan doesn’t want to take a risk, considering his father who died in the chopper crash in the same path and climatic conditions. Though this is a baseless piece of rumour, it has been grabbing the attention of netizens.
