Tensions ran high in Andhra Pradesh with two new positive cases registered on the same day. Taking the tally to 5, the reports from the state health authorities state that the blood samples of two Europe returned who were kept under quarantine turned positive.
According to the state Medical and Health Department, a 24-year-old man, a native of Krishna district who returned from Paris via New Delhi and Hyderabad on March 17, tested positive. He was reportedly shifted to Vijayawada Government General Hospital (GGH). Meanwhile, another 22-year-old who returned to Rajahmundry from London via Hyderabad on March 18 also tested positive on Saturday. Officials stated that the condition of both the patients is stable are that they are tracing the contacts of the people who possibly came in contact with the infected.
Over the same, the state government has released a bulletin which stated that the health officials 9,530 people had been screened at the Visakhapatnam airport while another 1,274 people were screened at the two seaports (Vizag and Gangavaram) in the city. Another 836 people had been screened at the Krishnapatnam Port.
