While the state has been tormenting from the increasing number of Coronavirus cases from the past couple of days, Andhra Pradesh government came up with a crucial decision on Friday. Bringing all public & private hospitals, medical facilities & services, sanitation, food, water & power supplies under Essential Services Maintenance Act(ESMA) for 6 months in the wake of the intensification of coronavirus outbreak in AP.
In the line of the invoked act, the government now has the power to take legal action against the doctors working for the public and private hospitals who refuse to work. Including the medical staff, the act also lies applicable to the purchasing, maintaining and transportation of medical equipment, ambulance services, biomedical management and sanitation personnel. The CMO on Friday has also released a G.O over the same which will stay applicable for the next six months.
Meanwhile, the state so far registered 161 Coronavirus cases amongst which 140 are speculated to have links with the Nizamuddin religious congregation. Tensions ran high in Nellore which has the highest number of devotees who attended the congregation. The health official confirmed that they have intensified the sample testing with almost 1,138 test samples sent to labs.
