While the number of Coronavirus positive cases drastically came down in the neighbouring Telangana, situations still prevailed high in Andhra Pradesh which has been registering not less than 70 cases per day. The scenario has been severe in districts like Kurnool, Krishna and Guntur which registered 334, 206 and 292 active cases so far. On this note, the state government has been facing sharp criticism over understating the severity of the outbreak and dealing with the crisis.
In the wake of the corona cases curve in Kurnool district refusing to flatten, Jagan-led state government took a shocking decision on Thursday. Issuing orders transferring the district Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Babu, Andhra Pradesh government appointed IAS officer Dr Balaji as the new Commissioner.
While the news that a dedicated committee fro central government is about to visit the state to ascertain the containment strategies implemented in AP, this abrupt move triggered debates in state political circles. This welcomed criticism on social media as well. Referring to the recent rallies and mass programs held by YSRCP MLAs, MPs and leaders, netizens found fault with the government over portraying the bureaucrats as the culprits.
