In the view of increasing corona positive cases in the state, Andhra Pradesh government has ramped up the containment strategies to restrict the further spread of the pandemic. While the neighbouring Telangana hinted upon a strict 15-day lockdown in the state, all the highways from Telangana that led to Andhra Pradesh were piled up with vehicles.
Thousands of vehicles lined up at the Panthangi and Korlapahad toll gates, as natives of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh drove back home fearing another lockdown. In the wake of which, Andhra Pradesh DGP Gautam Sawang issued new guidelines for the vehicles entering the state.
Making thermal scanning at the toll gates a must, AP police from Wednesday will not allow the vehicles to enter the state after 7 PM. Besides the rules that are already in force like passes through online Spandana online application and compulsory 14 days home quarantine, the police department now added the time constraint to bring down the risk of the pandemic.
