The state government has appointed Anjani Kumar as the DGP of the state. He was transferred as DGP who was ‘ACB and Vigilance DG’. In this regard, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar issued an order on Thursday.
Mahender Reddy, who is the current DGP, is retiring at the end of this month. Anjani Kumar will take over as DGP in his place. Anjani Kumar, who previously served as the city police commissioner, is currently the director general of the anti-corruption department.
Anjani Kumar is a 1990-batch IPS officer. He became the DG of ACB on 24th December 2021. Earlier he worked as Hyderabad City Commissioner. Received United Nations Peace Medal (Peace Medal) twice. He also worked in Bosnia from 1998-99 on behalf of the United Nations. He studied at St. Xavier’s School in Patna, the capital of Bihar, and at Delhi University. He showed good performance in IPS training and won two cups.
Anjani Kumar previously worked as Janagama ASP. He was also made the counterintelligence cell chief. He served as Chief of Greyhounds and DIG of Nizamabad in the United States. He also served as Warangal IG and Hyderabad as Additional Commissioner of Law and Order. He was made Additional DG of Law and Order Telangana. On March 12, 2018, he worked as Hyderabad Commissioner, and on December 25, 2021, he was appointed as ACB DG.
He also received President’s Police Medal, President’s Police Medal, and Internal Security Medal for performance in the Naxal area. Extensive research has been done on the history of the Hyderabad city police.
On the other hand, the government has also transferred five IPS officers. Home Secretary Ravigupta has been transferred as DG ACB and given an additional charge as DG Vigilance. Additional DG Peace and Security Jitender have been transferred as Home Secretary.
