Staying true to the rumours, the Andhra Pradesh Government has appointed IAS Neelam Sawhney as the Chief Secretary of the state. The CMO has issued the appointment orders to take over the responsibilities from Incharge CS Neerab Kumar who has been serving as additional secretary to the government.
Speaking on the occasion, Neela Sahani said, “It is my responsibility to serve the government. I have learned a lot from Andhra Pradesh. Coming back to this state reminded me of my first posting in Machilipatnam, Krishna district.” Neelam Sahani is an AP cadre officer belonging to the 1984 IAS batch and was sent for central services on deputation. On this note, Neelam stood as the first female IAS officer who became the state’s Chief Secretary after the bifurcation.
