Arvind Kejriwal’s sweeping victory in the Delhi elections has come as no surprise to the political analysts with all exit polls predicting it in prior. According to the reports, Kejriwal will take oath as the Delhi CM for the third time on February 16. On this note, all eyes are on Arvind’s cabinet which would assist Kejriwal in fulfilling the promise to focus on local issues of ‘water, power and health’.
The party chief and to-be Chief Minister called for a meet with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday while the sources confirmed it to be over the cabinet. Followed by which Kejriwal also met with newly elected AAP MLAs at his residence. Senior party leader Gopal Rai sated that the party chief took the suggestions of all the MLAs over the cabinet while speculations are rife that youth and marginalised communities’ representation was on priority.
While sources confirmed that 31-year-old Raghav Chadha will be made Finance Minister and Atishi, Education Minister, in Mr Kejriwal’s new cabinet. Raghav, a chartered accountant, is AAP’s spokesperson and one of the most affable faces of the party. He won from the Rajinder Nagar constituency by over 20,000 votes. On the other hand, Atishi, the alma mater features Delhi’s St Stephens College and Oxford University assisted Sisodia as the advisor. Manish Sisodia who previously held multiple portfolios Finance, Planning, Urban Development, Education and Revenue is speculated to reassign some of the above portfolios.
