BJP on Monday called for a bandh in Malkajgiri to protest against the attack on corporator Shravan. BJP leaders and activists shut the shops and other business entities. Tensions ran high in Malkajgiri With this, the police resorting to lathi charge on the protestors.
BJP corporators staged a dharna near the Vinayaka Nagar crossroads to protest against the police action. Tensed situations prevailed as a scuffle broke out between police and BJP activists which resulted in a stampede-like situation. BJP leaders set ablaze an effigy of minister Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao. With situations slipping out of hands, police arrested the protesters and shifted them to Nared Met Police Station.
Scores of BJP activists reached out to the police station while TRS ranks too rallied to the police station. There were reports that the ruling TRS party workers barged into the police station and attacked BJP supporters. During the scuffle, the TRS activists are learned to vandalize Moulali BJP corporator Sunitha Yadav.
Upon Sunitha’s complaint, another case has been registered against Mainampalli under sections 324, 427, 504, 506, 148 R / W 149. The names of Mynampalli’s son Rohit and 20 others were included in the FIR.
