Tensions ran high as Rahul Gandhi squatted on road in protest after which the leader was detained forcibly. According to the fresh allegation levelled by Rahul Gandhi, he was manhandled and lathicharged by UP Police.
Meanwhile, tensions prevailed at Hathras with various journalists and politicians attempting to enter the village. While the 5 villages around Hathras continued to remain under the scanner of over 200 policemen, the upper community in UP held a protest to support the accused. Demanded a fair inquiry in the case, the community heads of the village raised slogans in support for the rapists.
